I’m an idiot - one ending has the birds and the floating island, the other has the lad swimming home and a firework display.

I think I may have found one of the endings…the gold rod will only get you 65 metres…and eventually, you will end up hooking a bird which you cannot get off the end of the line…if you hade the legendary rod, you’d be able to cast right over to the lad, who would likely grab the bird and get towed back. :-/
